Chateau Haut-Koenigsbourg



The Haut-Koenigsberg is a medieval castle which is situated in the French town of Orschwiller in the Bas-Rhin in Alsace.


The Haut-Koenigsberg now enjoys a strong tourism.


Owned by the French State since 1919, the High Kœnigsbourg was transferred by the State General Council of Bas-Rhin in 2006. This transfer was the first heritage property transferred by the state to a decentralized structure from a list of 176 properties transferred decided in 2004.
Upper Kœnigsbourg is one of the most visited tourist sites in France, with over 500,000 visitors per year and reported revenues of Euro 800 000. The council plan investments, including security and creating new space for a total of 10 million euros for 2000.
